John Ronald “Rone” Stambaugh, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Born December 8, 1945, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John M. and N. Grayce Eberly Stambaugh.
Rone was a 1965 graduate of CASHS. He went on to work for Nitterhouse Concrete for 42 years, retiring in 2008 as a Production Scheduler. A people person, Rone was selfless with his time; he enjoyed helping others. He served on the board of Directors of the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Dept., fireman’s relief, was a life member of the New Franklin Vol. Fire Dept., where he was a past Chief, he also enjoyed mowing grass at the Gettysburg National Battlefield Park, Boy Scouts of America, and serving with the Cumberland Valley Jersey Breeders. Rone cherished time spent with his family and at the fire house, he also enjoyed golf, civil war history, NASCAR, hockey, baseball camping, and softball in his younger years.
Surviving are two children, Lori Hepfer (husband John) of Orrstown, PA and Adam Stambaugh (wife Brianna) of Chambersburg, PA; a granddaughter, Kaylyn Hepfer; and great-grandson, Jensen Rine.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Lawrence Metzler will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment in Parklawns Memorial Gardens will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, 3444 Wayne Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
