Joseph Runk, 59, of Spring Run, PA, passed away Sunday morning, January 4, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born August 31, 1955 in Elizabeth, NJ, Joe was a son of the late Walter and Josephine Burrascano Runk. A self-employed tax preparer, he owned and operated MTS Tax Service in Spring Run and formerly in Mercersburg. Joe was a member of the Shady Pine Mennonite Church. He had a passion for baseball and was a life-long New York Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife, Evelyn Martin Runk, whom he married October 11, 1975; two daughters, Tara Hall and husband Eric of Spring Run, and Alisha Runk of Chambersburg; two grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Meyer of Ocala, FL; and a brother, Larry Runk of Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Garry Runk and a sister, Dorothy Bair.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill, PA, with Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil officiating. Interment will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
