Joyce Boyle

Joyce M. Boyle, 68, of Chambersburg passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at her home. Born August 3, 1945 in Madison, NY, she was the daughter of the late T. Gilbert and Ethel M. Smith.

A 1963 graduate of Madison Central High School, Joyce went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in 1967 from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. After her college graduation, Joyce worked for the Social Security Administration in the Washington D.C. area for two years. After she and her husband Frank were married, Joyce decided to devote her time to her children and family. She was most recently employed as a teller at Valley Bank and Trust Co. from 1991 until 2002. After her retirement, she enjoyed several years as a volunteer at Chambersburg Hospital. She loved playing golf, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and games, doing counted cross-stitch and square dancing. She also enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, and spending time with her grandson.

Joyce is survived by her husband Frank E. Boyle whom she married on August 1, 1970; two children, Holly Goliwas and husband Benjamin of Asheville, NC, and Jeffrey Boyle and wife Vivian of Morristown, NJ; one grandson, Zachary Frank Goliwas; and two brothers, Terence M. Smith of Utica, N.Y., and Norman F. Smith and wife Janet of Lancaster, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, October 21, 2013 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Chaplain John Winckler will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
