Joyce Anne Frisby, age 83, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Dumfries, VA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday. December 13, 2018. Born September 27, 1935 in Merseyside, Liverpool, UK, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Spicer
She attended local school and went on to attend secretarial college. After graduation she started work with Cunard Shipping Line, which gave her the opportunity to travel. After visiting New York and Washington D.C. she moved to D.C. in1962. In 1963 she met a young U.S. Marine, Dillon Wayne Frisby, at an embassy party. They married shortly after.
Joyce enjoyed a good adventure, was an active member of SpiritTrust Lutheran Life, she enjoyed doing needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles and cruise travel. Her favorite quote was “The best things in life are the people you love, the places you’ve seen, and the memories you make along the way”.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and brothers George (Edna), Hector (Mary) and Edwin (Norma), and her sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter, Johanna (Chuck) Grove of Spring Run, her youngest brother, Victor (Dorothy) of Liverpool, UK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held with family and close friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Path Valley Historical Society, PO Box 171, Spring Run, PA 17262.
