Juanita Cordell

Juanita K. Cordell, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 9, 1948 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Ralph M. Myers, Jr. and Ruth K. Stoner Myers. She had been employed for more than 30 years at the former J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg and then worked for a number of years at the Potomac Center in Hagerstown. She and her husband Richard then provide foster care for special needs adults and children for nearly 10 years. She attended Grand Point Church. Juanita will be remembered for her kind and giving nature. She was a friend to everyone and had a great love for animals. She enjoyed flowers, especially sunflowers.

She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Cordell, whom she married December 27, 1998; three children, Jasmine Cordell of Chambersburg, Destiny Cordell (Emmy Foty) of Massachussetts, and Declan Cordell of Chambersburg; her sister, Theresa Harmon (Richard) of Mercersburg; a grandchild to be born in January; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Barber.

A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Kevin Elworth and Pastor Gene Strite will officiate. Interment will be private.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
