Judith Mentzer

Judith A. Mentzer, 70, of Orrstown, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 17, 1947, in Burton, OH, she was a daughter of the late Miles A. and Regina M. Price Campbell.

Judy was a Certified Professional Midwife and a member of NARM. She was dedicated to her profession and took tremendous joy in bringing a new life into the world. She was also the owner/operator of Mentzer Maternity & Herbs in Orrstown. Judy was generous to a fault. When she saw someone who had a need she would move heaven and earth to help out. She was a supporter of local businesses in the Shippensburg and Orrstown area. Judy always knew God had her back and she had a deep abiding faith that the Lord was in control.

Judy is survived by her husband of 25 years, James M. Melvin of Orrstown; three sons, James Weingartner of Cody, WY, and Joseph and Joshua Mentzer, both of Atlanta, GA; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Smith of CA and Sheila Thorne of Newfoundland, Canada; nieces, Sheila Cathers of CA, Julie Saldivar of CA, and Sheena Plumber of NJ; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 13, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Fr. Richard Lyons will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 5 – 7 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
