Judith Ann Sipes, age 66, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia, PA on March 28, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Marlin and Evelyn Patrick Murphy.
Judith was a 1969 graduate of the Shamokin Area High School. Last employed at Food Lion in Chambersburg, she had previously been employed as a supervisor at Kmart and Lowe’s in Chambersburg. Judith was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, where she sang with the church choir and volunteered with the Hospitality Committee. Early in her life she had volunteered with her daughter’s Brownie Troop. Judith was a member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Sipes, whom she married November 17, 1990; her son, Mannix Wheary (wife Tricia) of Appleton, WI; her daughter, Michelle Turner (husband Todd) of Chambersburg, PA; step-children Tanya Brown (husband Nick), and Stacy Dorman, all of Chambersburg, PA; Nine grandchildren: Solomon, Abby, Becca, Ava, Seth, Quintin, Lexi, Hannah, and Aiden; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sonny, Glenn, and Kerry Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, October 20, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Catherine Boileau and Rev. Dr. Dianne B. Salter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
