Julius E. K. “Kemp” Miley, 79, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his home. Born December 12, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late David F. Miley, Sr. and Arabelle Kyler Miley.
A US Army veteran, Julius served honorably until his discharge in 1964. He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for many years and later as a maintenance supervisor at Howard Johnson for 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of Fayetteville Pentecostal Church of God. He was also a member of the George Washington Lodge #143 F&AM. Julius loved watching wildlife and being in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley J. Anderson Miley, whom he married on May 2, 1986; four children, Patricia Stouffer (Darwin) of Lurgan, Julie Sheffield (Chris) of Texas, Gladys Rosenberry of Chambersburg, and Jeanette Gift (Charlie Caratozzola) of Chambersburg; two step-sons, Archie Miley and Ronald “Tyke” Miley (Kayla), both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Heather Stouffer, J. J. Diehl, Jason Diehl, Autumn Sheffield, Michelle Dean, Michael Rosenberry, Jr., Chasidy Ott, Brittany Gift, and Logan Gift; twelve great grandchildren; three brothers, Marilyn, Don and Rodney Miley; and two sisters, Pearl Spiker and Saundra Douglas. In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Gervis, David, Hobart, Frank, Ronald, Merle, Charlie, Susan, Helen, Grace and Fleeda; and a son-in-law, Michael Rosenberry, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 31, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Staci Geesaman will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery where military graveside honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home where masonic services will be provided by members of the George Washington Lodge #143 F&AM. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
