June Bowling

June E. Bowling, 95, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 21, 1926 in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Stella Tolbert. Her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert L. “Bob” Bowling, preceded her in death on June 25, 2009.

June and her husband Bob were married on October 9, 1942. Together they worked on their farm until the mid-1960’s. She was then employed in retail at Newberry’s Five and Dime, Town & Country, and JC Penny’s. She later drove school bus for the Chambersburg Area School District. June enjoyed doing word finds, and flower gardening at her home.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Shaffer and husband George of Chambersburg, Bobbie Lauver and husband Bob of Ft. Myers, FL, and Kay Bowers and husband Ted of Chambersburg; twelve grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Frank “Jim” Tolbert and wife Nina of Perry County. Aside from her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her daughter Debby Rosenberry; and four siblings, Harry and Warren Tolbert, Mary Heir and Hazel McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 25, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Mr. Jay Peterson and Rev. Bill Smith will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
