June H. Ely, 96, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Providence Place. Born April 23, 1922 in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Rennis E. and Pansy R. Kauffman Hassler. Her beloved husband Elmond B. “Bud” Ely, preceded her in death on December 25, 1999.
June was a graduate of Arendtsville High School. She was employed at the Stanley Co. for 15 years as a seamstress. June enjoyed reading and listening to audio books. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.
She is survived by two nieces, Susan Hair (Warren Kistler) of Chambersburg, and Linda Moore Sommer (Dave Sommer) of Shelter Cove, CA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, October 22, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
