June L. Hancock, age 88 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born October 21, 1924 in Fayetteville, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Ursula Hart Metz.
Mrs. Hancock was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was employed for a number of years as the Head Cook at Guilford Hills Elementary School, where she later retired. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with family.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda H. Koontz (husband Douglas) of Sterling, VA and Sherry Flair of Chambersburg, PA, a granddaughter, Leah Koontz of Sterling, VA, a brother-in-law, Roger Hancock (wife Doris), and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce E. Hancock in 1990 and seven siblings, Mildred Bender, Paul Metz, Elizabeth Perry, Mary Keefer, William Metz, John Metz, and Evelyn Kennedy.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehab Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201, or to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 44 East Main St., Fayetteville, PA 17222.
