June R. Wenger, 93, of Chambersburg, went to be with The Lord, Tuesday January 3, 2012. Born June 27, 1918 in Letterkenny Township, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Friese Kegerreis. A homemaker for most of her life, June was a rather private person, choosing to focus her energy on her church and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Witmer and husband, Donald, of Fayetteville; a son, Greg Wenger and wife, Barb, of Chambersburg; 7 grandsons, Monty, Troy and Shawn Witmer, Brian, Trent, Bradley and Kyle Wenger; a granddaughter Megan Martin; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Isabelle Shatzer, Shirley Sites, Fay Group, all of Chambersburg; and a brother, James Kegerreis of Greencastle. Aside from her parents, June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garnet A. Wenger, on February 20, 1987; a son, Larry Wenger; and five brothers, Ralph, Don, Bob, Paul, and Wayne Kegerreis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 6, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Pastors Timothy A. Funk and Stephanie P. Dowding will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday January 5, 2012 and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in June’s honor to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3001 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
