Karen L. Helman, age 54, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at the University of Maryland Hospital-Baltimore, MD on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Born in Chambersburg, PA on August 3, 1966, she was the daughter of Linda Rowles Fisher and George and Connie Powell.
Mrs. Helman was a graduate of Kempsville High School. She worked as an in-home Certified Nurse’s Aide. She was a passionate believer in GOD and believing there is a higher power. She enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores, rescuing animals, caring for others, and taking long walks in the mountains.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Kirk “Pete” Helman, whom she married on April 12, 2009, three daughters, Kristin Keller (fiancé Tobey Brown) of McConnellsburg, PA, Whitney Keller of IN, and Ashley Lutz (husband Chris) of Reading, PA; three step-children, Bethany Shatzer (Jared) of Fayetteville, PA, Logan Helman of Chambersburg, PA, and Kayla Dillon (husband Tristen) of Chambersburg, PA; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Kevin Powell of Reading, PA; and two step-sisters Tina McMullen (Jeff) and Tammy Seidel (Robert). She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katlen Heman in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Deborah Strait will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses to Kristin Keller, 101 East Patterson St., McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
