Karl Elwood Fahnestock, 78, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Selinsgrove, PA, passed away Friday evening, May 20, 2016 at his home. Born June 1, 1937 in Selinsgrove, he was a son of the late Mary Frantz Finsterbush and the late Kenneth G. Fahnestock. Karl was a 1955 graduate of the Selinsgrove High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Conrail after twenty-five years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1173 in Selinsgrove and his hobbies included golfing, bowling, photography, stamp and coin collecting, and model trains.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Latch Fahnestock, whom he married February 26, 1986; his sister-in-law, Patricia Fahnestock of Selinsgrove; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth H. “Sonny” Fahnestock.
Services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 North High Street, Selinsgrove, PA. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
