Katharine “Katie” D. Glass Pensinger, 89, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 24, 1927 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Glass and Edith Isenberger Glass Beard. Mrs. Pensinger was a 1945 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed as a Systems Analyst with DESCOM at Letterkenny Army Depot. She was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees #1063, and the Nellie Fox Memorial Association and its’ Board of Directors. She volunteered for more than 30 years in the Gift Shop at Chambersburg Hospital. Mrs. Pensinger enjoyed attending productions at Totem Pole Playhouse, knitting, and sewing. Her husband, Warren D. Pensinger, preceded her in death on November 24, 1973.
She is survived three nephews who are sons of her only sister, Patricia; Michael, Richard, and Benjamin Gomer; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews by marriage and many cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Gomer on March 28, 1995 and her companion of 30 years, Lowell F. Kiser on February 13, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Don Drury will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
