Katherine Bishop

Katherine V. Bishop, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, entered into eternal rest on Monday afternoon, February 11, 2013 at the home of her son. Born September 24, 1924 in Needmore, PA, she was a daughter of the late Keller Theodore and Viola Hope (Snyder) Mentzer. A 1943 graduate of the former Warfordsburg High School, Katherine was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot during WWII. A homemaker most of her life, she was a member of Crider’s United Brethren Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and reading. Her husband, Preston Vernard Bishop, preceded her in death in 1983.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Francis Bishop (Michelle) and Dias Preston Bishop (wife Carolyn); and four grandchildren, Kathleen, Evan, Seth, and Carly Bishop. She is also survived by a brother, Gerald Mentzer of Needmore, PA and a sister, Verna Kesecker of Berkley Springs, WV. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas, Donald, Larry, Bob, and Dick Mentzer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Keith Elliott officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
