Katherine Lowe

February 10, 1916 — November 24, 2015

Katherine L. “Kitty” Jacobs Lowe, 99, of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA. Born February 10, 1916 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Esther M. (Carmack) McCans. She attended the Chambersburg First Church of God for many years and was a member of the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Lowe worked at the former Gray Line Hosiery Mill for about five years until she married William W. Jacobs in June of 1944. After his death, she served at Menno Haven for seven years as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of the Chambersburg Mall Walkers Club for many years and enjoyed her time with the Chambersburg Activity Senior Center.

Kitty was an avid bird watcher and can be remembered as “the lady who fed the ducks” at the Towers where she lived for eight years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, William Jacobs and her second husband, George T. Lowe, both of Chambersburg. She is survived by a sister, Waneta Mae (McCans) Geiman of Chambersburg; a niece Vickie Lee (Geiman) Wenger, wife of Ronald, of Chambersburg; and a nephew Gary E. Geiman and wife Brenda (Klutas) of St. Thomas; three step-children, Janet Lowe Ward and William E. Lowe of Chambersburg, and Marjorie Lowe Blaze of Carlisle, PA; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service which will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lawrence Metzler will officiate. There will be no viewing. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Chambersburg First Church of God or to the Ever Faithful Sunday School class at 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
