Kathleen Douglas

Kathleen L. Douglas, age 85, of Scotland, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 01, 2013 at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born February 28, 1928 in New Franklin, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Melvin and Gertrude Shatzer Gift.
A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Douglas enjoyed working around the house, spending time with her family, baking, and solving puzzle books. She was a member of the Scotland United Methodist Church, where she was in charge of the Children’s department and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was also active in the TOPS Club for a number of years.
Surviving are her children, Constance Bikle (husband Ferdinand III) of Fayetteville, PA; Kathy Bowen (husband James) of New Franklin, PA; and Michael Douglas (wife Belinda) of Fayetteville, PA, three grandchildren, Ferdinand Bikle IV (wife Trisha) of Christiansburg, VA; Marie Dovey (husband Todd) of Fayetteville, PA; and Matthew Bower (wife Cathy) of Shippensburg, PA, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and two brothers, A. Wayne Gift and Dennis E. Gift. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Douglas in 2006 and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at the Scotland United Methodist Church, 4040 Main St., Scotland, PA 17254 on Wednesday, June5, 2013 at 10 AM; where Pastor Michael Baumgardner will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 7-9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 1711.
