Kathleen W. Mickey, age 96, formerly of Marion, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA. Born February 15, 1918 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earnest L. and Nellie I. Delphy Wilhide. Her beloved husband of 25 years, Richard C. Mickey, Sr., preceded her in death on April 5, 1975.
Early in her life, Kathleen worked at a silk mill on 3rd and King St. in Chambersburg. She then worked at the former Stanley Company for eight years. Mrs. Mickey was a member of the Second Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chambersburg and the Greencastle Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans for her family and also cooking for her family.
Surviving are three children, Joan K. Mellott (husband Daryl) of Mercersburg, PA, Kenneth R. Mickey (wife Donna) of Newville, PA, and Richard C. Mickey, Jr. (wife Tammy) of Marion, PA; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Mickey, five brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral Services to celebrate Mrs. Mickey’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Henry Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 27, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
