Kenneth M. Forsythe, 91, formerly of Marion, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Menno Haven. Born April 13, 1925 in Greencastle, he was a son of the late John Albert and Alma P. Orris Forsythe.
Mr. Forsythe served honorably with the US Army during WWII. Early in his life he purchased his own truck and was a self-employed truck driver for many years. He then worked for Lehman’s Egg Service. He was later the owner/operator of Forsythe Welding in Marion, served as a minister and drove school bus until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Forsythe was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God.
He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne McClure of LaPlata, MD and Bonita, wife of Kenneth Pieper of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Cher Forsythe Harshman and husband Scott of Marion, Ann Marie Pieper of Lusby, MD, David Pieper of Baltimore, MD, John Anuscavage and wife Karen of Lititz, PA, Victoria Coombs and husband Chris of La Plata, MD, Kash McClure II and wife Darla of Frederick, MD and Elisabeth Forsythe of Davis, CA; six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Vernon Forsythe and wife Louise of Greencastle and Betty Jane Negley of Chambersburg; two daughters-in-law, Laura Forsythe of Marion and Diane Miner of Chambersburg; and a brother-in-law, Tom Zeger of Shady Grove. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Byers Forsythe in 1966; his second wife, Helen Jones Forsythe in 2009; two sons, Kenneth Lee and Dennis Lynn Forsythe; three siblings, O. Richard Forsythe, Annabelle Zeger, and Galen Forsythe; and a step-son, Scott Miner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 24, 2017 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Don Drury and Pastor Isaac Burkholder will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
