Kenneth D. Hock, 72, a long-time resident of Chambersburg and Fayetteville, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 23, 2018 with his three children by his side at his home in Quincy where he resided for the past year. Born October 13, 1945 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Glen D. and Helen M. Shughart Hock. Ken was employed early in his life as an independent truck driver. He then sold furniture at the former Route 30 Furniture and in 1992 opened Factory Direct Carpets in Chambersburg which he operated for twenty-six years. He semi-retired in 2008 but continued to be active with the family business. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken enjoyed golf and gambling of any kind, including but not limited to poker and horseracing. He will be remembered by many for his kindness and generosity as well as his keen sense of humor and his lack of any desire to be politically correct.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Brookens Hock, whom he married October 24, 1964; three children, Deb Hock of Chambersburg, Missy Burns and husband Randy of Fayetteville, and Hockey and wife Robyn of Chambersburg. Ken always said that he would never name his son Kenneth D. Hock, Jr. so that if he grew up to be an idiot he wouldn’t have to claim him. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Charlie (wife Kirsten), Andy, Megan, Blair, Georgia, Courtney, Tessa, and Corbin; six great-grandchildren, Nolan, Blake, Lucus, Caroline, Brinlee, and Brogan; three sisters, JoAnn Miller, Judi Ridgley, and Sue Hull; and a brother, Jack Hock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Romaine Ressler, Mary Smith, Shirl Shultz, and Glenda Seal; two brothers, Gary and Bob Hock; and a granddaughter, Brooke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday and 9:00-11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
