Kenneth R. Kauffman, 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday afternoon, February 14, 2014 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he was a guest for one day. Born January 25, 1935 in Guilford Township, he was a son of the late Bennett and Hazel Carbaugh Kauffman. He had been employed at the former Geyer Lumber Company in Chambersburg for more than twenty years and later retired from the Chambersburg Area School District where he had worked for thirteen years. He enjoyed visiting Lancaster County, Baltimore Orioles baseball, NASCAR, repairing and painting cars, bird watching, and antique cars. He had a great affection for cats.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Audrey Hampton Kauffman, whom he married June 19, 1954; two sons, Kenneth A. and wife Juanita and Mark D. and wife Chris, all of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Jessica, Autumn, and Brienne Kauffman; four brothers, Edward of Shippensburg, Clifford and wife Faye of Florida, Bennett and wife Irene of Shady Grove, and David and wife Joan of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Welty; and two sisters, Minnie Cowan and Geraldine Ervin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Lawrence Metzler officiating. Interment will follow at Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
