Kenneth H. Mummert, 85, of Chambersburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 29, 2021 while surrounded by his family. Born May 2, 1936 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary Karper Mummert.
Ken was a 1954 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He was a life-long dairy farmer. Along with his wife, they owned and operated Sunset Haven Dairy Farm for over 40 years. He was a member of Air Hill Brethren In Christ Church where he led singing and served on various church committees. Ken was an exchange student to Australia with the IFYE Program in 1959. An active member of the community, Ken served as a 4 H leader for 30 years, the Franklin County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board, several years on the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association Board of Directors, 25 years on the Roxbury Holiness Camp Board and the Greene Township Zoning Board. Ken enjoyed traveling and attending family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Elizabeth “Betty” Kendig Mummert, whom he married on June 30, 1962; three children, Cheryl Sears (husband Peter), K. Allan Mummert (wife Karen), and Dale Mummert (wife Amy); eight grandchildren, Lauren Nelson, Samuel Mummert, Jessica Myers, Micah Mummert, Megan Alder, Jonathan Sears, Grace Mummert, and Isaac Mummert; four great grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Mummert (wife Carolyn) and Gerald Mummert (wife Claire). In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn Mummert (wife Nelle) and Earl Mummert (wife Christine).
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Air Hill Brethren In Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. John Melhorn will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. There will also be time to greet the family following the memorial service. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
