Kenneth “Ken” Leroy Shannon, 88, of Fayetteville, went home to be the Lord, Friday October 18, 2024. He was born Thursday October 15th, 1936 to the late Samuel and Martha Shannon in Chambersburg, PA.

Ken, married May 5th, 1956, is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Schoenleber) Shannon. He is also survived by his daughter Sandra M. McHugh with husband William of Chambersburg; sons Kenneth W. Shannon with wife Sheryl of Blacklick Ohio and Kevin L. Shannon with wife Kristy of Chambersburg; four grandchildren Kristopher, Nicole, Kelsey, and Brendan; four greatgrandchildren Nova, Paisley, Karter, and Molly; sisters Cindy Jones and Linda Bricker; friend and brother in-law Rich Schoenleber; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Samuel Shannon Jr., Richard Shannon, and Donald Shannon; sister Joyce Timmons; and brother in-law William Schoenleber.

Ken spent most of his professional life in the insurance industry. He loved people and helping them plan for their future. He was always very active in his church, Calvary United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, PA. He served as a Sunday school teacher, in the choir, on various committees and even as a groundskeeper. 

When Ken was young, he and his brothers formed a band together playing their own unique form of Hawaiian and Country and Western music. He played the lap-steel guitar. They traveled to musical competitions and even won a few. He always loved sports, mainly playing baseball, softball, bowling, and was an avid golf enthusiast. He never missed following and supporting Penn State football. However, in his spare time, he loved to spend a great deal of time with his children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held for Ken on Wednesday October 23rd, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, with Reverend Clyde DeShong officiating. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Avenue Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior, Wednesday 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
