Kevin Schaeffer

Kevin Eugene Schaeffer, 57, of Newburg, PA, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2014 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 30, 1956 in Chambersburg, he was a son of Helen Wright Schaeffer of Newburg and the late Richard L. Schaeffer. Kevin was last employed at the former Hick’s Chevrolet and was a Foster Parent for Family Care Services for over 31 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed drag racing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Boni Furry Schaeffer, whom he married March 9, 1975; two children, Kevin Eugene Schaeffer, Jr. of Hustontown, and Danielle R. Leedy and husband Bobby of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren, Kimberly, Ashley, and Payne Schaeffer, and Bailey and Brooke Leedy. He is also survived by a brother, Richard L. Schaeffer, Jr. and wife Deb of Shippensburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
