L. Wade Taylor

L. Wade Taylor, 69, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday evening, August 9, 2017 at the home of sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dave and Lori Group in Chambersburg. Born November 4, 1947 in Boonsboro, MD, he was a son of the late Carl Victor and Betty Lee (Noell) Taylor. He attended Williamsport Junior High School and then Paradise Mennonite School where he completed the 10th grade. At the age of 12 he moved with the family of Eli (deceased) and Ada Martin, who now resides at Menno Haven, onto their family farm in Williamsport, MD. In 1964 he moved to Chambersburg and lived at the home of Ada Martin’s brother, Omar Martin and worked on their farm. Later he worked for Diller’s Plumbing and Heating where he learned the trade of plumbing which became his life’s work. He worked for several other plumbers throughout his lifetime but most recently helped Dave and Lori Group with their plumbing business.

His passion was hunting, and he could be found doing such for turkey, deer, trapping, etc. He loved the mountains and enjoyed the sounds of nature. He was a member of the Shippensburg American Legion, Walk-no-more Hunting Club, Western Maryland Sportsman Club, C.V. Antique and Machinery Association, and attended in every August the Franklin County Antique and Machinery show at Twin Bridges where he assisted with attendance and sign ups. He was a member Chambersburg Mennonite Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Farner and husband Daniel and two grandchildren Kelby and Keaton. He was one of ten children and his surviving sisters include Sandy (Wayne) Suman of Tucson, AZ, Karen (Jesse) Nichols of McConnellsburg, PA, Trulaine (Richard) Kreider of Thomasville, PA, Valletta (Dave) Coblentz of Waynesboro, PA, and Tuvene Taylor of Alabama. His surviving brothers include Terry (Regina) Taylor of Glenwood, MO and Sammy Taylor of Ranson, WV, and he is survived by a foster sister, Betty (Percy) Wilson. The Martin survivors include Lucille (Thomas) Croutch, Hazel Martin, James (Wilma) Martin, all of Hagerstown, and Lewis (Elaine) Martin of Waynesboro, GA. Along with his parents and Eli Martin, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Jody, as well as Ray Martin. Wade had many friends who will greatly miss him as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial at Chambersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Eugene Martin officiating.
