Lamar Hamlett

July 22, 1919 — October 7, 2016

Lamar Hamlett, age 97, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Penn Hall Nursing Home. Born July 22, 1919, in Green City, MS, he was the son of the late Archie Hamlett, Sr. and Rena Hall Hamlett.
A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Hamlett served his country honorably for 23 years, in both WWII and the Korean Conflict, retiring in 1960 as a Major. After retirement Mr. Hamlett went on to serve as a civil servant for the Department of Defense, where he later retired in 1979.
Surviving is his daughter, Cindy Dathe (husband David) of Muskego, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet B. Hamlett in 1968 and his second wife, Betty Wise Hamlett in 2010.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 11 AM at Gettysburg Nation Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
