Larry W. Clayton, Sr., age 71, of Ft. Loudon, PA passed away in the Manor Care Nursing Home on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Born in Spring Run, PA, he was the son of Mabel E. Clayton and the late Samuel W. Clayton of Spring Run, PA.
A 1960 graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School, Larry pursued a career in construction engineering for Buchart and Horn, where he later retired. An avid fisherman, Larry enjoyed going to Cowan Gap State Park. He also enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Laurel Grove United Methodist church, and had most recently been attending the Carrick United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Tammy Harry (husband Rodney) of Dry Run, PA; Larry W. Clayton, Jr. of Ft. Loudon, PA; and Lauri Ryder (husband Charles) of Ft. Loudon, PA; four grandchildren, Brittani Davis, Taylor Harry, Ian Clayton, and Makena Clayton; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Machusko; and two siblings, Arthur G. Clayton (wife Judy) of Amberson, PA and Kathy Jones of Chambersburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver G. Clayton.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 3 PM at the Laurel Grove United Methodist Church, 17697 Amberson Rd., Spring Run, PA 17262, where Pastor Phil Foster and Rev. James Fox will officiate. Interment will be private.
