Larry G. “Pooch” Funk, age 73, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 6, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude Hose Funk.
A 1957 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Larry went on to work at the H.J. Heinz company for over 20 years and then on to the Reynolds and Reynolds Company for over 10 years until his retirement in 1991. Larry loved animals, he had a passion for horseracing and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Tony Stewart as well as cheering on the San Francisco 49ers.
Surviving is his wife of 22 years, Cathy Turner Funk, whom he married on August 24, 1990; his daughters, Taria Lyn King (husband Edward) of York Haven, PA and Toni Rena Funk of York Haven, PA; two grandsons, Joshua Granberry and Alex King; and one brother, David Funk (wife Jane) of Chambersburg, PA.
Services and interment will be private in accordance with Larry’s wishes. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
