Larry Hobbs

Larry Wayne Hobbs, 63, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013. Born August 20, 1949, in Sikeston, MO, he was a son of Helen Oyler Hobbs and the late Frank Hobbs. A 1967, graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Larry served honorably in the US Army during Vietnam. Larry worked as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot where he retired in 1994, after 25 years of service. Following his retirement, Larry was an independent business owner and later returned to work at Letterkenny Army Depot as a contractor. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, bird watching, nature, football and the outdoors. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins.

Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Starr Hobbs, whom he married November 13, 1973; two children, Kelly A. Hobbs of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jesse A. Hobbs and wife, Christine, of Yorktown, VA; two granddaughters, Sarah E. and Madison M. Hobbs; six siblings, Judith Rock of Chambersburg, Linda Null of Chambersburg, Frank Hobbs and wife Donna, of Marion, Patsy Rock and husband Richard, of Chambersburg, John Hobbs and wife Rita, of Chambersburg, and Sue Reasner and husband Ralph, of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Harold Yeager will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to he Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
