LauRue Pierson, 83, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Thursday morning, June 29, 2017 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 7, 1934 in Huntington County, PA, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Pearl Ann Mock Shore. Mrs. Pierson was employed as a manager with Hertz Rental Cars in Virginia and had also worked as a beautician and in-home caregiver. She had also at one time modeled ladies’ wigs. She enjoyed attending church services at Trail of Hope Outreach Ministries in Fayetteville; loved her dogs; and enjoyed birds and traveling. Her husband, Vern E. Pierson, Jr., whom she married May 18, 1968, preceded her in death on December 2, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Mason of Fredericksburg, VA; two sons, Maynard I. Mellott of Clifton, VA and Robert Mellott of Winchester, VA; two step-daughters, Susan Ethers of Virginia Beach, VA and Colleen Turner of Clifton, VA; and three sisters, Darlene Whitten of Chambersburg, Donna Maloney of McConnellsburg, and Delores Thomas of Burnt Cabins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Thomas, Dorothy Fahnestock, Leona Tritle, and Velda Deshong; and four brothers, Mervin, Bud, John, and Larry Shore.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 3, 2017 at Trail of Hope Outreach Ministries, 7798 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Pastor Rod Thomas will officiate. Private interment will be at Air Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday at the church.
