Lawrence Edgar “Fuzz” Johnson, age 74, of Spring Run, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Lancaster, PA on May 16, 1944, he was a son of the late Jesse E. and Louise Dillman Johnson.
A roofer for most of his working life, Fuzz retired from DeRose Industries. Quite a character, Fuzz became well known throughout the Path Valley community along with the Men of the Mountain Club dressing in his Native American costumes. Very artistic and crafty in nature, Fuzz enjoyed playing music, making musical instruments, including a guitar he once crafted from a toilet seat, and most recently taking pictures with his selfie stick and spending time with family, friends, and his cats. He was a proud member of the Ft. Loudon American Legion Post 606.
Surviving is one daughter, Pam Gibbons, and a granddaughter, Raylee C. Gibbons, both of Dry Run, PA; four siblings, Dwight Johnson, Shirley Johnson, Larry Johnson (Irene), and Eugene Johnson (Linda), and his extended family, John Sideras and the Path Valley Family Restaurant crew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, JoAnn and Walter Johnson and a son-in-law, Ronnie Gibbons.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 2 PM at the Spring Run Bible Church, 20722 Hammond Rd., Spring Run, PA 17262, where Pastors Ryan Henderson and John Semple will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Doylesburg Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Fuzz’s name to the Fannett-Metal Fire Company #12, PO Box 51, Dry Run, PA 17220.
