Lawrence L. Updegraff

Lawrence L. “Larry” Updegraff, Jr., 81, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 12, 1944 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. Updegraff, Sr. and Floss (Orndorff) Updegraff.

He was a graduate of Shippensburg High School with the Class of 1962. Larry was employed for most of his career as a maintenance technician at The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA and Episcopal Nursing Home, Shippensburg, PA retiring after over 20 years of service.

Larry was a member of Christian Life Church, Chambersburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to the beach and most of all spending time with his family. Larry was a selfless and caring person always putting others before himself.

He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Scott and her husband Bill of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Lisa Laman and her husband Cody of Shippensburg, Scott Hammond and his wife Maxine of Greencastle, PA, Shauna Updegraff of Chambersburg and Steven Updegraff of Chambersburg; two great-grandchildren, Brantley and Emersyn Laman; daughter-in-law, Sheila Updegraff of Chambersburg; three siblings; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, B. Jean (Short) Updegraff who passed away October 1, 2007; two sons, Richard E. and Steven E. Updegraff; and five siblings.

Services will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Joseph Pickens officiating. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday afternoon in the funeral home.
