Lee Roy Yeager

June 23, 1935 — February 8, 2013

Lee Roy Yeager, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA passed away in his home with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 23, 1935 in Fort Loudon, PA, he was the son of the late Frank H. and Alma M. Hornbaker Yeager.
Mr. Yeager was a dedicated family man, who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; he was also very committed to the work of his faith, where he became an ordained deacon on August 1, 1973, serving at the Strasburg Mennonite Church and more recently at the Newburg Mennonite Church. His commitment did not stop there; he and his wife went on to travel throughout the U.S. doing disaster relief work with Christian Aid Ministries. In addition, Lee Roy worked for over 40 years as a truck driver for Valley Quarries, retiring in December of 1996.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Janet Fleagle Yeager, whom he married on March 22, 1958; four children, Sheryl E. Stewart (Kevin) of Shippensburg, PA, Jeryl L. Yeager (Lisa) of Marion, PA, Sheila M. Burkholder (Donald) of Newport, PA, and Dr. Joel E. Yeager (LuAnne) of Schaefferstown, PA; ten grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, two step-great grandchildren, and a brother, Gerald Yeager of Harrisburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank C. and Robert E. Yeager and two sisters, JoAnn Sluser and Nancy Harp.
Funeral services will be held at Rowe Mennonite Church, 754 Pinola Rd., Shippensburg, PA on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 10 AM; where the Home Ministry will officiate. There will be a viewing from 2-8 PM on Monday, February 11, 2013, where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Rowe Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Christian Aid Ministries, P.O. Box 360, Berlin, OH 44610.
