Lena Harry

Lena R. Harry, 97, a resident at Menno Haven and formerly of 127 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, passed on Monday morning, April 9, 2012 at the nursing home. Born April 8, 1915 in Spring Run, PA, she was a daughter of the late Garfield and Annie Brown Peterson. Mrs. Harry was a 1932 graduate of the former Fannett Township High School in Dry Run, PA. She married Dr. Roy S. “Doc” Harry on September 22, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2001. A homemaker most of her life, she assisted her husband in the office of his veterinary practice for many years. A member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg for more than sixty years, she was a member of the Semper Fidelis Sunday School Class, served as a Cub Scout Leader, and was active with many other activities at the church. Mrs. Harry was a member and former president (1962-1963) of the Norland Garden Club and the AARP. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, and especially enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play sports.

She is survived by her son, Stephen R. Harry and wife Linda of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Nicole L. Gentile and husband Bradley of Middletown, MD and Brandi R. Becker and husband Gavin of New York, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Reece L. and Brynn R. Gentile. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Loleta McClelland and three brothers, Elmer, Harold, and Paul Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
