Leon Lehman

Leon K. “Lindy” Lehman, 96, of Chambersburg passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 30, 1921, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Alma M. Long Lehman. His wife, Lura Doris McGinnis Lehman, whom he married June 4, 1944 in Ft. Hamilton, Brooklyn, NY, while they were both serving in the US Army, preceded him in death on October 10, 2004. In addition to his service in the US Army, Mr. Lehman served as a clerk with the US Army Reserve Center and was employed as a clerk at Letterkenny Army Depot until his retirement. He was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, the Isaak Walton League, American Legion Post 46, and the Elks Lodge 600, all in Chambersburg. He was also a member of Mercersburg Sportsman Club and the Waynesboro Sportsman Club.

He is survived by a son, Darrel K. Lehman of Baltimore, MD, three grandchildren, Dawn, Twila and Travis, five great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Lehman; and four sisters, Alda Kramer, Verda Martin, Beulah Goetz, and Evelyn Lippy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens where graveside military honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, Professional Arts Building, 25 Penncraft Avenue.
