Lesa A. Sowers, 53, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 16, 1962 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of William O. and Laura H. (Rowe) Wishard.
Lesa was a 1980 graduate of CASHS. She was employed as a secretary for the federal government for 34 years, first at Rockville, MD, and later at Ft. Ritchie, MD, Letterkenny Army Depot, Ft. Dietrich, MD, and most recently at Raven Rock Mountain Complex/Site R until her retirement in 2015. Lesa was a member of the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, both in Chambersburg. She enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers, going to NASCAR races and she loved her grand-dogs, Major and Lucky.
In addition to her parents, Lesa is survived by her husband, Robert E. Sowers, whom she married on September 25, 1999; a son, Tucker W. Perry (wife Courtney) of Chesapeake, VA; a step-son, Jordan R. Sowers (fiancé Sierra Miller) of Chambersburg; a brother, William H. Wishard (wife Vicki) of Fayetteville, and a niece, Amber Wishard of Fayetteville.
A funeral service to honor Lesa’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 11, 2016 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Mark Ruzicka will officiate. Interment in Parklawns Memorial Gardens will be private. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Better Days Animal League, P.O.
