Lester K. “Ken” Lutz, 76, of Fayetteville, PA, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at home. Born April 24, 1935 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Lester F. and Mildred I. Bonebrake Lutz. Ken was a 1954 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and served in the US Marine Corps. A barber for more than 40 years, Ken operated Lutz’s Barber Shop, formerly owned by his father, in downtown Chambersburg prior to moving the business to his home in Fayetteville in the early 1970’s. He was a life member of the Chambersburg Club and the Landis-McCleaf Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Chambersburg. Early in his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy V. Scalia Lutz; his daughter, Crystal Helman and husband Daryl of St. Thomas; and his brother, Robert A. Lutz of Millersburg, PA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren Hamby and his brother, Ray C. Lutz.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 at New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Reuben Egolf will officiate. Interment will be private.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Ken’s memory be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
