Lester Walck

Lester G. Walck, 72, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in his home after an ongoing battle with cancer. Born May 28, 1949 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late Kenneth R. and Madalyn (Gilbert) Walck.

He was a graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School with the Class of 1967. While in high school he was the manager of the basketball team. Les then went on to serve in the United States Army during Vietnam stationed in Germany from March 29, 1968 until his honorable discharge March 29, 1971.

Les was employed by PPG Industry, Mt. Holly Springs, PA. He retired in 2015 after 43 years with the company. He enjoyed bowling in a league at Sunshine Lanes, Waynesboro and Nellie Fox, Chambersburg and hosting an annual picnic for his family and friends. In his younger years he bowled in a youth league and was a Boy Scout obtaining his Eagle Scout status. Les enjoyed traveling he especially enjoyed his trip to Hawaii with his wife for their 20th anniversary.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debra L. (Shaffer) Walck who he married September 26, 1998; a son, Matthew Ambrose and his girlfriend Sasha and her children, Julian and Isabella of Marion, PA; three sisters, Sally Bishop of State Line, PA, Mary Harsh of Williamsport, MD, and Carol Gelsinger of Shade Grove, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews including, Heather Lippert and her husband Dave, Dana Szaflarski, and Diana Schuchman and their families. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a special nephew, Michael Schuchman who passed away in 2000.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. However, the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, March 28, 2022 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
