In 1948 she graduated from Peirce Business School, Philadelphia, and was employed by Dr. Seaton, a surgeon at the Chambersburg Hospital as a receptionist and as a clerk-typist at Letterkenny Army Depot.

Leta met her husband, a PA State Trooper, while working as a secretary and court stenographer for Judge Wingerd. They were members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg, and were active in church and school activities.

She excelled as a homemaker and mother until 1972 when she returned to office work at Computer Assistance, Inc., Chambersburg, where she learned advanced payroll data entry systems.

Leta was active in community service as a driver for Meals On Wheels and as a volunteer for Pregnancy Ministries, Inc., the Republican Women, VFW, and the American Legion.

Leta was an avid reader and dog lover and took pleasure in gardening and mastering puzzles.
