Lewis B. Drawbaugh, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 16, 1927 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Lewis B. Drawbaugh, Sr., and Lillian M. Kohler Drawbaugh. His beloved wife of 61 years, Doris Jean Dawbaugh, preceded him in death on January 11, 2009.
A 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Lewis began his career at Chambersburg Engineering Co. at age 18. He retired as a designer/draftsman in 1993 after 47 years of service. Lewis had a great faith in God and was a dedicated member of Calvary United Methodist Church. A 32nd degree mason, Lewis belonged to George Washington Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM in Chambersburg, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest #145, the Zembo Shrine Temple in Harrisburg, the Waynesboro Shrine Club, and the South Penn Scottish Rite Club. He was also a member of the Furnace Spring Hunting Club and the Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club. Lewis and his wife owned and operated Worth’s Clothing Store in Chambersburg for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature, gardening, history, reading and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Lewis had a zest for life. He loved good food, traveling, and trying new things but always had a desire to return home to Chambersburg.
Lewis is survived by three children, Lana Drawbaugh Watford and husband Fred of Panama City, FL, Dan S. Drawbaugh and wife Sarah of Vail, CO, and Carla Drawbaugh Gaughenbaugh and husband Tim of Gambrills, MD; and six grandchildren, Katelyn Strasburger and husband Harry IV, Taylor Drawbaugh, Erin and Kara Watford, and Ryan and Lauren Gaughenbaugh; and his sister, Margaret Boward of Clear Spring, MD. He is also survived by his special friends, Pauline and Ray Wenger of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, Lewis is preceded in death by his brother Robert W. Drawbaugh.
A funeral service to honor Lewis’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Rev. Clyde H. Deshong III will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
