Lewis Fritz

Lewis P. “Lew” Fritz, age 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 9, 1933 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Milton A. and Helen Mickley Fritz.

A US Army veteran, Lew served honorably from 1955 until 1957. Lew continued to work at the former J. Schoeneman Company for 47 years, retiring in 1998 as a machinist. He was a member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, the Searchers Sunday School Class, and the Cumberland Valley Hose Co. In his spare time, Lew enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and going to Florida.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Doris Shank Fritz, whom he married August 29, 1958; three children, Rodney L. Fritz (wife Lorraine) of Deptford, NJ, Randy L. Fritz of Black Rock Canyon, AZ, and Robin Rosenberger (husband J. Russell, Jr.) of Red Hill, PA; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; and four siblings, Milton C., Ronald E., and Shirley J. Fritz and Connie E. Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lester A. Fritz.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10 AM at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Daniel House and Pastor Darlene Stouffer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 6 until 9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service in Church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his name to the above church’s building fund at the above address.
