Lilly Black

Lilly P. Black, age 58, of Fannettsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home. Born April 8, 1956 in McConnellsburg, PA, she was the daughter of Sylvia P. Rohm Powell and the late John K. Powell.

A 1974 graduate of CASHS, Lilly then went to TWA Airline Training School in Kansas City, MO. She completed her schooling in 1976 and began her career with the FBI in Washington D.C. as a fingerprint analyst until she could no longer work due to injuries sustained in a car accident. She was a member of Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and youth Sunday school superintendent and was active in the Women’s Association. At one time Lilly wrote a weekly column in the Public Opinion about Path Valley. She enjoyed attending the Path Valley Picnic, her pets, spending time with her family and she loved her grandchildren very much.

Surviving is her husband of 35 years, Jeffery Black, whom she married on October 13 1979; her son, Eric J. Black (special companion Kristi Riley) of Winchester VA; four grandchildren, Ezra Buettner, Brionna Stotler, Zoe Seibert, and Emilia Black; five siblings, Kenneth Lee Powell of Salem MO, Kimberly Miller (husband James) of Chambersburg, Homer Powell (wife Ginger) of Chambersburg, Teresa Blackhurst (companion Mike Dubbs) of Orrstown, and Karen Brechbill (husband Earl) of Orrstown; 14 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Lilly’s life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, Dry Run, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church, 18094 Fannettsburg Road East, P.O. Box 406, Fannettsburg, PA 17221.
