Linda Sue Gipe, 65, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at her home. Born September 12, 1950 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert Chastulik, Sr. and Pauline Seylar Chastulik.
Linda, dearly know to some as “Shoshana”, was a 1968 graduate of CASHS. She was a member of 2nd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge 842, and the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all in Chambersburg. In addition to being a homemaker, Linda cared for children in her home for many years. She also provided in home senior care in recent years. She was a majorette in high school and she enjoyed teaching baton twirling throughout her life. Linda also volunteered as a poll worker during local, state and national elections at the Falling Spring Church. A cancer survivor, Linda was a free spirited person and had a very loving and unique personality. A friend referred to her as, “A beautiful person who had the heart of a child.” She was loved by all that knew her. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach, and camping.
Linda is survived by three children, Dr. Jarrod Gipe (Helenann) of Carlisle, PA, Kristy Swanger (Richard “Dickie”) of Orrstown, PA, and Melinda Ann Dean of Honolulu, HI; six grandchildren, Courtney, Lee Allen, Shawn, Bethany, Ashlynn, and Lindsey; one great-granddaughter, Allison; and three sisters, Judy Shatzer and Dana Swandol (Carl “Bill”), both of Chambersburg, and Roberta Mortvedt (Ronald) of Fate, TX. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Chastulik, Jr.
A memorial service to honor Linda’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
