Linda Mahood Swartz

Linda Mahood Swartz, age 64, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012, in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born on August 20, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Robert Mahood and Doris Leopold Mahood.
Linda was a graduate of Uniondale High School in Hempstead, NY, and attended Wilson College and Penn State. While at Wilson, she met her husband to be, Stephen C. Swartz. They were married on January 10, 1970. After more than 32 years together, he preceded her in death on December 16, 2003. Linda retired from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Welfare in June of 2005.
She is survived by two children, Allison Jani (and husband, Ilir) of Chambersburg and Christopher Swartz (and wife, Caroline) of New Freedom; one sister, Robin Bellantonio (and husband, Ronald) of Wantaugh, NY; and four grandchildren, Emma and Zamira Jani and Aubrey and Brayden Swartz. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Kenny.
A memorial service will be held at her church, the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, at 2 PM on Saturday, November 10, 2012,with Rev. Mark Medina, Rev. Danielle Neff, and Rev. William Harter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202 (www.cvas-pets.org).
