Lois Daugherty

Lois C. Bitner Daugherty, 87, formerly of Chambersburg, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living in Fayetteville where she resided for the past year. Born April 24, 1936 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Ray E. and Gladys Eckel Cormany. Lois was a 1954 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and a 1957 graduate of the former Washington County Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse for 44 years she retired in 1998 as Director of Nursing at the Shook Home where she was employed for 28 years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church; the Area Healthcare Directors of Nursing Association; the Pennsylvania Directors of Nursing Association; the Advisory Board for the Franklin County Career and Technology Center; and the Falling Spring Chapter of AARP. She enjoyed theater productions, music, flowers, and animals.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Pamela A. Beck (Brad) of Fayetteville and Linda L. Lazar Knaub (Mark) of Chambersburg; and grandchildren Caitlin Shuff (Tyler), Mason Beck (Morgan), Remy Lazar, Trevor Thomas (Taylor) and their son Ryder, and Justin Thomas (Kaitlyn).

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg. Rev. Scott Bowerman will officiate.
