Lois J. Hammond, age 55, of Willow Hill, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2015, after a courageous six year battle with cancer. Born in Chambersburg, PA on October 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Loraine Horn Hockenberry, after her mother’s passing, six months after her birth; she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Elmer and Emma Guyer.
Mrs. Hammond worked in home health care for over 23 years, and then moving on to work as a housekeeper at Penn Hall Personal Care Home for 9 years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, collecting Boyd’s Bears, going to yard sales with her sisters on Saturday, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Randolph A. Hammond, whom she married on July 1, 1976; two sons, Randy Hammond (wife Vonnie) of Willow Hill, PA and Jamie hammond (wife Mary) Of Roxbury, PA; four grandchildren, Zoey KayLynn and Griffin Scott Hammond of Willow Hill, PA and Daniel Bear Brown and Rayce Allan Hammond of Roxbury, PA; and six siblings, Fred Hockenberry (Wife Sandy) of Piedmont, AL; Randall Hockenberry (Wife Linda) of Roxbury, PA; Mike Hockenberry of Willow Hill, PA; Barb Clark (husband Randy); and Tess Rhodes of McConnellsburg, PA . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Bob Hockenberry and Pat Thatcher.
A Memorial service will be held to honor her life on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11 AM at the Spring Run Bible Church, 20722 Hammond Rd, Spring Run, PA 17262, where Pastor Ryan Henderson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20037.
