Lois E. Hoot, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, January 19, 2015 at her home. Born November 6, 1936 in Canton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Harriet (Kachler) Hambuechen. She spent most of her life in Pennsylvania, having lived in Selinsgrove for 39 years and before that, Chambersburg for 3 ½ years during the 1960’s.
Lois is a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, PA. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, who occupied much of her life. While living in Selinsgrove, Lois was employed by Sun Home Health Services, Northumberland, PA, in a number of office positions. She retired in 1996 after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a volunteer at many funeral luncheons. She and her husband moved back to Chambersburg in 2010.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul; a son and daughter-in-law Richard and Kim (Hellerman) Hoot of Reston, VA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Yerger of Springfield, IL and Sharon Hoot and Joseph Hamrick of Burke, VA; brothers James and Mary (Burns) Hambuechen of North Canton, OH, Ronald and Vicki (Lash) Hambuechen of Navarre, OH; her grandchildren, Matthew, Shaun, and Megan Yerger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Thomas.
A private viewing will be held for family and close friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.
