Lois Mills

September 10, 1924 — July 31, 2013

Lois Edna Mills, 88, of New Franklin, PA, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 10, 1924 in Hopewell, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Alma Bollman Ritchey. A graduate of Robert P. Smith High School in Hopewell, Mrs. Mills worked early in her life at the former Stanley Company in Everett and retired in 1986 from the former J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg. She and her husband had attended the Fourth Street Church of the Brethren and they enjoyed traveling after retiring. She liked spending time with her family and her hobbies included gardening, painting, quilting, and reading. Her husband, Walter Mills, Jr., to whom she was married for 62 years, preceded her in death on January 19, 2009.

She is survived by four children, Linda Spedden and husband Denny, Karen Adams and husband Ron, Beverly Henneberger and husband Roger, and Gary Mills and wife Jeanne, all of Chambersburg; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Jimmy Ritchey of Waynesboro, Willis Ritchey and wife Jeanne of Chambersburg, and Marl Ritchey and wife Jean of Everett. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Ritchey; and three brothers, Verl, Ralph, and Clair Ritchey.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 5, 2013 in Everett Cemetery, Everett, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County, 23 North Third Street or House of Grace, 307 Lincoln Way East, both in Chambersburg, PA 17201.
