Lois J. Woods Thompson, 82, of Chambersburg, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center, Chambersburg. Born on January 9, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Victor Woods and Lula Alice Kriner Woods. She was the widow of Jacob J. Thompson, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1998.
She was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel and retired as a cafeteria worker from the Chambersburg Area School District, where she worked at Duffield Elementary and Middle Schools. Some of her interests included gardening, traveling, and volunteering at Fetterhoff Chapel and the Pond Bank Community Center.
Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Thompson and Dale E. Thompson (wife Rosemarie), all of Chambersburg; and a sister, Pauline Levick, a resident at Quincy Nursing Home. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Warren and Glenn; a sister, Dorothy Snider; another sister, Gail Marie, who died at birth, and her step-mother, Edna Mae Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, with viewing one hour prior. Pastor Brian K. Bowers will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family requests the omission of flowers, and that memorial contributions be made to a local charity of one’s choice.
